TSUMEB CONSTITUENCY
Tsumeb Constituency is mainly constituted by Tsumeb Town. In 2012, the delimitation commission divided Guinas constituency and apportioned the farm areas on the Southern part of Tsumeb to Tsumeb constituency. Areas of Tsumeb constituency are dominated by the town of Tsumeb and surrounding commercial farms on the south of the town. Tsumeb town is part of the maize triangle zone and is home to various agricultural activities. Tsumeb is the industrial hub of the region because most factories and mines are located in the town. According to the 2011 population census, the Tsumeb constituency has a population of 23 269 people with an area of 3608.59 Km2 and a population density of 73.2 people per square meters.
Economic activities:
Agriculture: maize, fruits and vegetables are grown in the area of Tsumeb constituency. There are many commercial farmers in the constituency. The agricultural products in the constituency serve as the basis for the livelihood of the people. The informal traders along the Tsumeb main road make a living by trading fruits and vegetables. The linkage between the rural and the urban part of the constituency is quite distinct as the agricultural products are produced in the commercial farms which are classified as rural and the trading and marketing of such products is done in the urban town of Tsumeb.
Tourism accommodation: Tsumeb constituency is close to the Etosha National Park. Most tourists prefer to lodge in the accommodation facilities available in Tsumeb Town or the surrounding areas. The tourist chooses to lodge in Tsumeb because the numerous facilities in the town which is also accessible to the rural areas. These facilities include: private doctors, modern retailer shops, fast food outlets, hi tech shopping centers and banks.
Trade and Industry: most of the industries in the region are situated in the Tsumeb constituency. This industry includes copper smelter, Dundee precious metal firm, weatherly mine. There are also intensive trading activities in the constituency characterized mainly of agricultural produce. The manufacturing firms in the constituency are a source of employment for the people from the constituency.
Manufacturing: the popular Henning Crusher is located in Tsumeb Constituency. Henning Crusher makes use of the abundant stones found in the constituency to manufacture bricks and concrete stones. The company is a major supplier of bricks and concrete stones in the northern and central regions. The crusher station in Tsumeb Constituency distributes concrete stones to the Henning Crusher plant in Ondangwa where distribution extends to the other northern regions.
Marketing and promotion: Tsumeb municipality in collaboration with stakeholders is always hosting an annual event of “Copper Festival” aimed in inter alias to promote and market the economic activities, opportunities and services.

Potential areas of investment in Tsumeb constituency are:
Institutional development: Tsumeb constituency is strategically located; establishing an institution of high learning in the town of Tsumeb can boost the economic activities. The institutions can serve people from Oshikoto region and other regions in the country.
Agricultural plants: there is a high productivity and output in the agricultural sector in the constituency ranging from maize, fruits and vegetables. There is a potential to establish maize milling factories and juice processing plants. These factories will create employment opportunities for the local people. There will be a high demand for fruits and maize which will require mass production and industrialization.
Education: Tsumeb constituency has a total of 13 schools that comprises of 7 primary schools, 2 combined schools and 4 secondary schools.
Health: There are 3 health facilities in the constituency, a district hospital and 2 clinics.
